Hello, my name is Pastor Majomeka Misheck of the Salvation Army Alaska Corp in Alaska, Zimbabwe. I was born in Mazowemine Centre a mining community 150 miles NW of Harare the capital city of Zimbabwe. I am the oldest of five children. My dad was a miner as mom watched over the children. Growing up we were a church family attending the Reformed church. We attended but it was out of obligation and soon I was in high school on my way as a rebellious youth.
My favorite past time was playing golf and drinking beer while smoking with my golfing friends. That was until the age of 25. I wasted away all my money for the love of the game. At age 25 I was left penniless and wanting a more fulling life. This led me to seek out church going people
I was playing golf when out of nowhere, a golf ball hit by a player way in the distance slammed into me. Obviously it was not intended to hit me and was truly errant. It hit me right where my eye and nose meet, I collapsed on the golf course. When I came to I was under medical care and I had a dream. It was Jesus: Matthew 11:9 “But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet”.
After recovering from my injury I was all in for Jesus. No more golf, beer or smoking. He had spoken and I listened. I entered Bible school and there I met Jamaica. During our schooling we married and started a family. Today we have three boys Nigel 16, Blessed 10, Theophelous 5.
After graduation we were sent by the Salvation Army to many rural communities. There we did battle with the witch doctors for the souls of the people. We immediately taught the ten commandments to give people direction and accountability. And then drove home only ONE GOD. We won the hearts of the people and spent valuable time with them tending livestock and their fields. We worked with all denominations and those subdued by the evil witch doctors in traditional religion. When needed, Jesus won the victory every time.
We worked like this for 18 months and 52 rural people found Jesus Christ as He worked through us. We were then dispatched in 2015 to this church in Alaska, Zimbabwe. Here we heard the Lord say, “teach morals and MY Ten Commandments. We have been obedient, and the people have been very receptive. We are teaching them right from wrong and how the love of God carries us through any situation.
Jamaica is the teacher and I’m the preacher as we together offer Jesus as a way of life and not just a Sunday experience. Jamaica had a dream where the Lord gave her instructions on how to teach the people a holy life of prayer and following the Ten Commandments. We have placed into motion what she was told in her dream, and we are watching the dream unfold before us.
This Cross planted will be a light to all who pass by. It is the first Cross in this entire neighborhood. It will beckon them to come and find Jesus and learn how to live a full life His way.
Prayer: Father thank you for Pastors Majomeka and Jamaica and how they are presenting Your truth through the Ten Commandments to their entire community. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
