We knew Better
Cyber Daily Devotion
Hello, my name is Deacon Michele Miller. I grew up on the mountain overlooking Port au Prince, Haiti. I was the fourth born of eleven children. My dad and mom were farmers. We attended the Baptist church and were believers in Jesus. At age 14 I gave my life to Christ in an altar call. All my sins were washed away and I was determined to stay that way.
January 16, 2010 saw a massive earthquake hit our island. It was so destructive it collapsed houses, tore up our roads and killed more than three thousand people. My dad and brother died that day. The devastation was incredible. We were stunned and the calamity touched everyone. The days following the earthquake were times with no hope. Our comfort levels were destroyed. Everyone went to work rebuilding.
But we didn’t blame God. Instead we ran to Him. As the creator of the universe and everything in it we knew better and we turned to the Lord with a new vigor. It was time to share Jesus with everyone.
Soon after the earthquake I married and we now have one child 2 years old. Over time we have rebuilt our homes, businesses, churches and lives. Now more than ever Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
My favorite Bible verse is John 3:16 which tells of the great love of Jesus for us. Surviving an earthquake is much like Jesus coming to save us. When a life has been devastated by the ravages of sin a savior is needed to save our soul. After being ravaged by the earthquake we needed to be saved in body, mind and Spirit. Everyone needs the savior.
The Cross to me is the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus alone represents an all loving and kind God who cares for each of us.
This Cross planted tells every passerby about the love of Jesus. That the love of Jesus is here for all who enter. The light of Jesus shines brightly here. Step out of the darkness and step into the light.
Jesus has touched my life with healing. Spiritual, physical and emotional. He did for me and He can do it for you. It’s a spiritual battle and we all must walk this walk to salvation.
Prayer: Father thank you for touching lives and making ways where there are no ways for Your glory. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
