Scripture: Revelation 14:6-7a
“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth-to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people- saying with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give glory to Him.'” NKJV
My name is Bishop Rodreck Makusha of Deeper Life Ministries in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. This is my Cross testimony of how Jesus re-directed my life for His purposes and lives have been changed. My dad was a hard-working carpenter but he was not excited about Jesus. Mom stepped up and herded us off to church every Sunday and at other times when the church doors were open. Moms relationship with Jesus was strong. She prayed for us all every day. I attended church but not much sunk in.
I excelled in school deciding that I wanted to be a teacher. It was off to college for me. I grew within the school system and became a prominent administrator. But Jesus had other ideas. At the age of thirty-three I attended an open-air crusade. The preacher spoke on Hell introducing us to Hell Fire and an eternity of pain and suffering.
Soon after receiving Christ I met my wife Itai. We joined a church and I became active. I soon became a Deacon. Jesus then placed a desire in my heart to be a Pastor. The desire burned within me. Itai joined me and we now Pastor together at Deeperlife Ministries.
Our church has grown as we are obedient to the Lord. Then I received a special gift from the Holy Spirit.
We were holding an open-air meeting and we called for prayer. Then a young man who could not walk since birth road a wheelchair up to the front. He left walking by the power of the Jesus Christ.
Then a child who could not speak from birth came forward. The Lord read his note for prayer. The child spoke out.
A lady who was barren of children came up for prayer, asking for help. Nine months later she gave birth.
Now whenever I pray I have an expectation that Jesus did it before and He will do it again. And He does!
Recently we have been preaching about the Cross and what it means to us as Christians. This Cross today is a confirmation that the Lord heard us and sent Pastors Bill and Carol to demonstrate His faithfulness. To God be all the Glory!
The demise of our countries economic strength in Zimbabwe, since the beginning of the 21st century, has driven tens of thousands of young people to leave our country for work elsewhere. They have become strangers in foreign lands but their hearts remain in Zimbabwe. This has caused an orphan crisis. When children are born in foreign lands they are sent back to Zimbabwe to be raised by family members.
The children returning have no birth certificates and are ineligible for schooling. We have started a Christian pre-school where 90% of the children who attend have no birth certificates. We are helping with housing and feeding the children as we can and currently we are seeking legal aide to establish them as citizens.
Simultaneously we have an Islamic invasion of Zimbabwe. This invasion has targeted our country to undermine Christianity as we know it. They have worked hard with our government removing God from schools. We have started a Christian school to teach our children about the Lord. We deem it no longer safe to send our children to a public a school where there is no mention of our Christian God.
My favorite bible verse is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” NKJV. We believe it, we live it and we do everything we can to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with whomever the Lord places in our path.
Prayer: Father thank you for the intervention of Jesus in the lives of each of these children that need proper documentation for their schooling. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
